Jane Eyre: It was good, but I probably won't ever read it again.

When I firsted started Jane Eyre, I thought it was an okay book. I thought it was a really good book when I was introduced to all of the different characters and motifs. The conflict between the characters really made it interesting. I was always wanting to read more. The story started to fall apart for me at least towards the end of the book. When Jane was introduced to her cousins, I thought, how unrealistic. Then she goes back to Rochester and everything seems to be perfect except for his injury. It's so simple. It is what it is though. I probably won't ever read it again.

I really liked all of the motifs in the book. It really made me focus. The only thing that was a let down for me was the simple ending. It's just a typical happy love story. I think that Jane Eyre could be taught again, because it really makes students read. Not just plain reading though. Close reading. The only problem I see with teaching it is that some students just find it boring. People are like that though.

Another movie?!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvkJPXSbQDE

This is the upcoming Jane Eyre film. It's supposed to come out sometime in 2011, I guess. Watch the trailer and answer my one and only question.

Is the music in the trailer as intense as your reading experience with Jane Eyre?

This trailer makes us feel like Jane Eyre is taking us on a thrill ride. I think that's the wrong idea. I love the book, but this movie trailer looks like it could twist the mood of the story.

Really? Jane Eyre the Graphic Novel?

I'm only on page 135 of the book, but I think Jane Eyre is pretty enjoyable so far. The book is super descriptive and very compelling. I think it's a good book. I just have to ask a question. Why is there a Jane Eyre graphic novel? And why was there a Jane Eyre radio show? I don't really care that it was made into a bunch of movies. That doesn't bother me. I just don't understand how this classic novel written in the 1840s can be published as a graphic novel and a radio show. Some people might dig it though. I feel like most of the graphic novel readers are looking for a little more action within the pages. The descriptions in the original Jane Eyre are beautiful, but I don't know if a graphic novel reader would find the same beauty within a graphic novel. This is just me though. What do you think?
